The Breitling Navitimer 806-36 first appeared around 1970. Instead of the Venus 178 commonly found on the 806, it is powered by the Valjoux 7736 - a cam-operated chronograph movement said to have been used because of shortage of supply of the Venus movement. The generations of the Navitimer produced through the 1950s and 1960s were given the Reference 806 designation, and the movement in the earliest versions was the Valjoux 72.
