This is the kind of slow-and-steady technical development that feels quintessentially Rolex, and it's good to see Rolex's flagship watch get a current-generation movement.

I did a little experiment with my 114060 (2018) caliber 3130 to see how accurate I .As you would expect, the movement is COSC certified and accurate to within +2/-2 seconds a day. To make the movement shockproof, it incorporates Kif shock absorbers. The free-sprung balance wheel is made from beryllium and copper, which is an alloy that can handle temperature variations very well.

I did a little experiment with my 114060 (2018) caliber 3130 to see how accurate I could keep it and for how long. I’ve read post on here referring to resting positions not having a lot of weight in regards to accuracy with the modern movements having the parachrome hair spring.

In my opinion the 3130 movement is as reliable as they come and capable of incredible accuracy. Indeed, I know people who report consistent rates in their NDs of +1 sec. or better. As to being more rugged or reliable than the 3135(or 3185 for that matter) I don't know. The 3132 is the next-generation Rolex movement using the Rolex patented Paraflex shock system. Since the plates are machined differently to fit these parts, it gets a slightly different movement number. The 3130 uses the tried and true KIF shock system, which will likely be phased out over time. Although the 3130 still uses Kif shock absorbers, rather than Rolex’s own Paraflex system that has since found its way into the updated Cal. 3132 for the latest Explorer, it is still a COSC certified movement, accurate to within +2/-2 seconds a day.

The specification for 3130 is a maximum delta of 15s among 5 positions (DU, 6U, 9U, 3U, DD) and two power settings (full power minus 1 hour and full power minus 24 hours). At full power minus 24 hours, amplitude must be 200 or greater in all positions. There is no doubt that the 3130 mvmt is a superior movement from what I have read, but there is also no doubt that the 2824-2 can be adjusted to be extremely accurate as well. A good example is the Korsbek Ocean Explorer (ETA 2824-2).

Much like the calibre 3135, the calibre 3130 that powers the reference 114060 Submariner, is a 31-jewel, COSC-rated, automatic movement. Additionally, the calibre 3130 has identical dimensions to the calibre 3135, and both movements share the same 48-hour power reserve. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual movement has long been celebrated as a cornerstone of horological innovation, embodying precision and reliability. Its self-winding mechanism, powered by the wearer’s movements, ensures accuracy without the need for manual winding.

This model is equipped with calibre 3130, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, the 3130 is a certified Swiss chronometer, a designation reserved for high-precision watches that have successfully passed the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) tests .As you would expect, the movement is COSC certified and accurate to within +2/-2 seconds a day. To make the movement shockproof, it incorporates Kif shock absorbers.
